The consumption of alcohol in Lithuanian edged down to 12 liters of legal absolute alcohol. Vilnius Airport gave a water salute to greet the aircraft of Germania on the occasion of the launch of regular flights on the route Vilnius-Zürich. Air service between Lithuania and Switzerland is re-launched after a pause of eight years. Nineteen school students aged between 14 and 17 from the war-struck Eastern Ukrainian region of Luhansk are coming to Lithuania on Wednesday for a week-long training. Lithuania's national radio and television LRT will have to pay a fine for broadcasting prohibited commercial ads, the Lithuanian Radio and Television Commission decided. LRT CEO does not rule out taking the decision to court. The international exercise Iron Wolf 2016 is kicking off in the Svencionys district, eastern Lithuania, on Monday as part of the Saber Strike training, which is the largest US-organized exercise in the Baltic States. The European Parliament has honoured 50 people and organisations from 26 EU countries with this year's Citizen's Prize for their contribution to European cooperation and the promotion of common values. The jury, headed by Parliament Vice-President Sylvie Guillaume, selected the 2016 laureates after a consultation of the 79 proposals that made it through to the national juries. On 2 June, Lithuania's Parliament, the Seimas, approved the draft Law on Concession of the three airports managed by the State Enterprise Lithuanian Airports. The draft law entrusting the management of the air gateways to an operator with a great deal of international experience was submitted by the Ministry of Transport and Communications. Though the summer season in aviation began at the end of March, most of regular seasonal flights at Lithuanian airports will start in June. Vilnius and Palanga airports will each welcome the arrival of two new airlines; flights favoured by travellers will also come back for the summer season. Avia Solutions Group (ASG), the largest Lithuanian-owed aviation business group, is setting up a cargo airline in Russia together with local partners. |
