The purpose of the change is to provide customers with better user experience and a full set of new functionalities, which include an updated user interface, the possibility to sign several documents simultaneously, document access management, and workflows.
The two companies have been partners for several years and made this decision after evaluating Estina's experience in the development of a similar document signing portal, ISIGN, in Lithuania, Estina said.
Describing the deal as undoubtedly beneficial for all sides, Liisa Lukin, business development manager at Sertifitseerimiskeskus, said it will make new features available to Digidoc customers and allow Sertifitseerimiskeskus to concentrate more on its core activity – development of electronic signature infrastructure solutions.
"Estina has extensive experience on e-solutions development, thus, we have no doubt the customers will benefit from the transition of management," Lukin said.
"By purchasing the Digidoc portal and expanding the geography of our activities, we will seek to strengthen our position as leader in e-signature solutions in the Baltics and to improve the quality of our services even more. Our long-term experience in Lithuania and foreign countries allows us to offer more functionality for Digidoc portal users and e-signature solutions for the Estonian market," said Gintas Balciunas, head of business development at UAB Estina.
Launched in 2002, Digidoc was the first document signing portal in the Baltics and it is widely used in Estonia by individuals, businesses and government organizations alike. The transition of management will start on April 7. Digidoc portal users will be able to continue using the portal as they are used to. The change of ownership will not affect stored user data, document security and privacy. User data and documents will be stored in accordance with the strictest security standards just like before, Estina said.
Founded in 2008, Estina is an IT company with focusing on e-signature and e-governance solutions. Estina runs the ISIGN document signing portal in Lithuania and empowers various e-services with ISIGN WebServices. Major IT integrators have partnered with Estina to use ISIGN WebServices for document signing in their projects or products.
