"As of this morning, nearly 900,000 residents submitted their declarations of residents' income tax. About 200 declarations came in before 7 a.m. today. The weekend also showed individual use of the opportunity to submit their declarations electronically – more than 22,000 declarations were received over Saturday and Sunday," Stase Aliukonyte-Sniriene, director of the State Tax Inspectorate's Department for Services for Tax-Payers, told the national radio LRT on Monday morning.
In her words, nearly 24 million euros in overpaid taxes have been returned to 230,000 residents.
Those required to declare their income or willing to earmark some of the taxes they paid to charity or political parties should submit declarations by May 2, while those wanting to get back a part of the paid income tax will be able to declare income at a later date.
