On Monday, Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius has met with Federica Mogherini, European Commission Vice-President, European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, to discuss refugee crisis-related issues and ways to strengthen strategic communications, as well as other matters of international importance.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini to discuss how to deal with external challenges facing Europe, the security situation in the region and the refugee crisis.

On Friday, on the eve of the Baltic Unity Day, a joint sitting of the Lithuanian and Latvian Cabinets was held in Rokiškis. The Cabinets have discussed areas to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of strategic importance. Prime Minister of Lithuania Algirdas Butkevičius and Prime Minister of Latvia Laimdota Straujuma have chaired the sitting.

On September 21 Minister of National Defence Juozas Olekas will meet with High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini coming on an official visit to Lithuania.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with Vice President of the European Commission Jyrki Katainen. The meeting focused on the implementation of the Investment Plan for Europe and on how Lithuania could make use of the opportunities offered by the European Fund for Strategic Investments provided for in this plan.

Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius on Thursday morning met with Mari Kiviniemi, Deputy Secretary-General of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the world's most influential economic union of states, and her delegation. The Deputy Secretary-General of the OECD said that the work has already begun in the 21st Organization's Committee which will prepare recommendations for Lithuania in different areas.

On Thursday, September 17, at 8:00 a.m., President Dalia Grybauskaitė will meet with a delegation of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) – the most influential economic organization in the world. This highest-level visit by OECD representatives to Lithuania signifies the official start of the final stage of our country's accession to this organization. OECD Deputy Secretary-General Mari Kiviniemi and 14 experts will arrive in Lithuania.

Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius has met with Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) Margaret Chan, who is on her visit to Vilnius. The meeting has focused on Lithuania's achievements in the field of health. The Prime Minister has drawn the WHO Director-General's attention to the fact that health policy is a strategic priority for Lithuania's Government, in compliance with its National Progress Programme for 2014-2020.

Migration, development and the crisis on the agricultural markets will be debated by MEPs during the plenary session on Wednesday. Jean-Claude Juncker, president of the European Commission, will discuss taxation regulations for multinational companies with the economic committee and the special committee on tax rulings on Thursday. He will be joined by commissioners Pierre Moscovici and Margrethe Vestager.
