The EU, Latin America and the Caribbean should revitalise rules-based multilateralism, in order to ensure peace, respect for human rights and international security.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) launched the Public Governance Review “Government at a Glance 2023”. The event was addressed by the Chancellor of the Government of Lithuania, Giedrė Balčytytė, the OECD Secretary-General, Mathias Cormann, and the European Commission Vice-President for Values and Transparency, Věra Jourová. The event featured a presentation of the OECD Public Governance Review and a panel discussion on strengthening democratic governance and increasing trust in public institutions.

This year Vilnius will host a NATO Summit, the most important and largest event in Lithuania’s history. It will take important decisions on the security of the Alliance. The Summit will take place on July 11-12 at the Lithuanian Exhibition and Congress Center LITEXPO.

During her working visit to Brussels, Kingdom of Belgium, Viktorija Čmilytė-Nielsen, Speaker of the Seimas, met with Roberta Metsola, President of the European Parliament, to discuss further support for Ukraine, including preparations for its EU accession negotiations, and the European policy agenda in Lithuania.

On Monday, President Gitanas Nausėda met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Vilnius to discuss preparations for the Vilnius NATO Summit to be held in July. The Lithuanian leader underlined that the current developments in Russia are further increasing the level of instability and threats in the region, therefore strengthening NATO’s eastern flank should be an immediate priority for the Alliance as a whole.

On Sunday, President Gitanas Nausėda chaired a meeting of the State Defense Council to discuss the unrest in Russia and its consequences for Lithuania’s national security.
