EducationInter-Faculty Student Debates Return to VU to Compete for the Title of the Best 2022 Team2022-12-15, 18:25After the COVID-19 pandemic, the Faculty of Philology of Vilnius University (VU) is again organising inter-faculty debates in English. This year the theme of the debate is "Leadership in Times of Crisis". The winners of the digital twins hackathon DIGITWIN organised by the KTU Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture (FCEA), which started on 4 November, have been revealed. Of the 14 teams that participated and presented their ideas in the first phase, 11 teams continued to develop their prototypes, and presented them to the jury on 2 December. Ideas ranged from navigation inside buildings, occupancy monitoring of laboratories, to real-time tracking of tilting of structures and even urban air pollution warning systems. A prize fund of €4,500 was distributed to participants for the best ideas and prototypes in both rounds. Although there have been a number of academic studies on the impact of crises on the business ecosystem and practical recommendations on how to ensure the sustainability of business processes in times of crisis, there is hardly any research on the management of business in wartime. The Business School of Vilnius University (VU) will try to fill this gap by signing a cooperation agreement with the Lviv Business School of the Catholic University of Ukraine. The researchers will undertake a relatively new area of business research - they will investigate the functioning of Ukrainian business and propose possible forms of business organisation during military conflicts. On 30 November ATHENA Executive Board, represented by the Rectors of all 9 partner universities, approved the inclusion of two top-ranked universities in Ukraine – the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute” and Lviv Polytechnic National University as the associated partners of the alliance. This decision will be followed by signing the Memoranda of Understanding. The latest subject rankings of the country’s educational institutions were published today. Vilnius University (VU) was the best performer in the ranking, as it is every year – the University was declared the leader in more than one-third of the evaluated bachelor’s degree programmes and almost half of the master’s degree programmes. This year, VU has improved its position in 7 bachelor’s and 5 master’s study fields. Everyone in the hardware industry – from students to experienced engineers - is invited to take advantage of a unique opportunity to prototype advanced electronic solutions and develop start-ups together with experts. The "Rethinking Hardware" hackathon will take place on 9-11 December at the Vilnius Gediminas Technical University's Creativity and Innovation Centre "LinkMenų fabrikas". The organisers of the hackathon – "Bridgio Tech Accelerator" and VILNIUS TECH "LinkMenų fabrikas", supported by "Promwad", an electronics design house, focusing on future technologies – e-mobility, smart homes, IoT and others – will open up a space where participants can work on innovative ideas and turn them into real projects.
