Hamid Aït Abderrahim has been working with Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) scientists for over a decade in order to develop a prototype of a new modern reactor which would help to reduce the duration of nuclear waste toxicity from 300 000 to 300 years. The hard work to find a solution for a global problem has finally paid off. "Today, thanks to our collaboration with KTU scientists, we can say that we have a solution to address a key safety hurdle for this technology", says H. Aït Abderrahim.

On 10 March, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, in cooperation with the European Commission, organises the European Humanities University's high-level Donors Conference, which brings together representatives of Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation of the member states of the European Union and other countries, and international organizations. The conference is dedicated to the European Humanities University's 10th anniversary in Lithuania.

In, March, VMU Career Days 2016 are coming back to Vytautas Magnus University. Meetings, seminars, discussions and many other events will be organized for students of VMU who are planning their career and studies.

This year the team of the VU students will represent Lithuania in the prestigious student synthetic biology competition iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine Competition) for the second time already.

Today Minister of Foreign Affairs Linas Linkevičius has delivered to President of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) Professor Sijbrand de Jong a letter by Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius and an application of Lithuania for its associate membership in CERN, one of the top research institutions worldwide.

This year, Klaipėda University (KU) sailboat Brabander will go on its longest voyage in 10 years: from Lithuania to Iceland, sail around it, and go back. In the summer, in 2,5 months it will cover around 5,000 nautical miles. The voyage route stretching via the Baltic, North, and Greenland Seas and along the coastline of the Atlantic Ocean is divided into 5 stages: Klaipėda–Sandefjord; Sandefjord–Stavanger; Stavanger–Reykjavik; Reykjavik–Blyth, and Blyth–Klaipėda. The sailboat plans to leave the port of Klaipėda on June 25 and to come back on September 10.

10 students from Heidelberg University of Education are conducting a three-week school practice in Vilnius. They will also attend the lectures at LEU, will have an opportunity to learn the basics of Lithuanian language and culture.
