EducationInternational ‘‘QS World University Rankings by Subject‘‘: VGTU reached the highest position2016-03-29, 18:43The sixth annual edition of international university rankings ''QS World University Rankings by Subject'' published the world's top universities in different subject areas. There are only two universities from Lithuania on the top list - Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) and Vilnius University (VU). For the second year, they ranked the performance of VGTU as the best from the Baltic countries for Engineering - Civil & Structural, and ranked VGTU from 51st to 101th place in the world – it is the highest achievement for Lithuania, while VU shares the 301st-400th place for Physics & Astronomy. Last Saturday, March 19 finals of International Erasmus Games organised by Erasmus Student Network (ESN) Lithuania took place in Vilnius. Teams of basketball, volleyball and futsal from 10 institutions of higher education played in the finals; in total around 160 international degree and exchange students with their fans gathered together for the international student sports event. Japanese energy and technologies corporation Hitachi renewed its collaboration agreement with Kaunas University of Technology (KTU). The agreement was signed by the company's Vice-President Uozumi Hiroto and KTU's Rector Petras Baršauskas earlier this month. KTU’s Acquisition of ISM’s Control Stock Approved by Lithuanian Competition Council2016-03-23, 18:41Lithuanian Competition Council has approved Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) acquisition of almost 79 percent of shares of ISM University of Management and Economics. This decision was made after the Council concluded that the consolidation of the two universities will not create the domineering position, and will not restrict the competition in certain markets.
