The new agreement was signed and new areas of cooperation agreed on: electronics, information technologies, telecommunications, mechatronics and other. The basis of this cooperation is joint PhD programmes and research, student internships abroad with the companies partnering with VGTU and PUT.
VGTU and PUT have a long-standing history of cooperation. Since 1990 the scientists from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University, Poznan University of Technology and the Leipzig University of Applied Sciences have been organizing joint colloquiums. The 15th German-Lithuanian-Polish colloquium “Innovative solutions in Construction Engineering and Management” and the meeting of Euro Working Group “Research of operations in sustainable development and civil engineering” took place at PUT on 19-21 June 2015. Joint scientific publications by VGTU and PUT researchers are constantly published. PUT professor Oleg Kaplinski is VGTU Honorary Doctor since 1996.
There are 21 thousand students are studying at PUT currently. The university is highly regarded for its research and innovation.
