The conference for evaluation of the acitivities of the NORDPLUS programme 2012-2017 in Lithuania (Junior, Adult, Horizontal and HigherEducation) took place in Kaunas on the 4th of October 2017.

On Saturday 21 October Kaunas National Drama Theatre is inviting international Kaunas citizens and city guests to the theatre play “Barbara”, which is telling the story of the legendary couple – The Grand Duke of Lithuania Sigismund II Augustus and his beloved wife Barbara Radziwill – in the modern-day context.

Vytautas Magnus University invites everyone to the events of VMU Career Days 2017 which will take place in the university’s spaces and online throughout the month of October. Events in Lithuanian and English languages are dedicated to VMU international students. This year’s theme is CAREER 360°: a comprehensive career. Lectures, discussions, meetings, experiences, live or virtual workshops on self-knowledge and many other events will be organized. The first-ever Virtual Career Fair held by a Lithuanian higher education institution will be a key and final component of the Career Days.

Next Friday, 13 October Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) will award the regalia of honorary doctor of KTU to Professor Klaus Schwab, the renowned economist and engineer, the Founder and Executive Chairman of World Economic Forum. On the same day Professor Klaus Schwab will deliver an open lecture to students and all academic community.

“Although I stayed in Kaunas for six days, I managed to visit Čiurlionis Museum three times”, says Yumiko Nunokawa. The Japanese researcher has just defended her PhD thesis on Lithuanian genial artist Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU). Her work on Čiurlionis included not only three years of thorough research, 12 exhausting flights from Tokyo to Vilnius, but also visits to the places Čiurlionis had lived, and an immediate connection with the creative works of the artist by reviving the forgotten piece of his music.

Economics journalists from Bursa (Turkey) region representing AS TV, Olay Media Group and Yeni Donem newspaper were visiting Kaunas Science and Technology Park (MTP) and Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Santaka Valley earlier this week. They were introduced to Kaunas MTP enterprises, joint business and research projects and entrepreneurship studies at KTU.

On 2-13 October a series of lectures will be held at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) by professor from Aalto University (Finland). Dr. Terhi Kristiina Pellinen is a professor of Highway Engineering at the Department of Civil Engineering at Aalto university, who worked more than 10 years in academic and private sector in the USA and he has been working for more than 15 years in Europe now.

The Commission was presented guidelines and principles for online platforms to increase the proactive prevention, detection and removal of illegal content inciting hatred, violence and terrorism online.

The Baltic-German University Liaison Office has announced the project competition 2018. The project competition offers support to the universities and the research institutions of the Baltic states in cooperation with a partner institution from Germany. Projects in any field of science will be financially supported with an amount up to 5 000 EUR.

20 million Euros of investment, joined competences of Lithuanian and Swedish researchers, collaboration between universities, research centres and the State – Lithuania is taking steps to create the first in the Baltics centre of excellence for information and communication technology.
