EducationOn October 24, an education simulation event “Vilnius Model UN 2017” took place to mark the 72nd anniversary of the United Nations Day. The event was organised by the Eastern Europe Studies Centre (EESC) together with the Swedish Institute, the Embassy of Sweden in Lithuania and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania. Three students from Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) participated in the event: Pritesh Kwatra and Josias Knöppler as delegates from Russia, and Michelle Rohla as delegate from France. The paper based on the study undertaken by the team of Lithuanian researchers was bestowed Paper of the Year award by The Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), USA. The paper “Association of Severe TBI Patients’ Outcomes with Duration of Cerebrovascular Autoregulation Impairment Events” was awarded in Neurotrauma & Critical Care section. Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) Professor Arminas Ragauskas was granted the award during the annual meeting of the Congress in Boston. For 2018, funds available for Erasmus+ are expected to increase by more than €200 million euro, a rise of 8% compared to 2017. CV-Online and Vytautas Magnus University present the second Baltic online career fair, which is also the first online career fair organized by a Lithuanian higher education school. The event will include presentations by Baltic business companies that are currently seeking employees or interns. Students will also be able to receive consultations on their further study opportunities at Vytautas Magnus University. On October 26-27 international academic conference about civil society in East Asia “Civil Society in East Asian Countries: Contributions to Democracy, Peace and Sustainable Development” will be held in VMU Small Hall (S. Daukantas str. 28). On Monday, the QS Ranking team announced regional ranking of the top universities in Emerging Europe and Central Asia 2018. Two Lithuanian universities are among the top 50. Earlier this week QS World University Emerging Europe and Central Asia (EECA) Rankings were announced. According to the Rankings, Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) is praised by the employers – in employer reputation criteria KTU has 91 points out of 100. Among Lithuanian universities, KTU stands out by the high qualifications of the academic staff. From 1 October 2017, the European Consortium of Innovative Universities (ECIU) will be represented on the European stage by a permanent Brussels office. In the development of European funding programmes, European institutions rely on networks like the ECIU for advice and expertise. As a consultant, the ECIU will be able to secure a position as an important stakeholder. AL-KO Vehicle Technology, the leading German supplier of high quality chassis components for trailers, leisure vehicles and light commercial vehicles, is to set up a research and product development centre in Kaunas. This technology centre will recruit 30 staff members over the next three years to develop the company’s new products for the trailer and automotive industry, Invest Lithuania agency informs. |
