President Dalia Grybauskaitė, currently attending the World Economic Forum, met with Dr. Fabiola Gianotti, Director General of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). It was announced that Lithuania was going to host two CERN business incubation centers – one in Vilnius and another in Kaunas.

On the first days of 2019, representatives of Vilnius University’s (VU) Faculty of Medicine visited the Medical Doctor International Academy Study Fair in Tel Aviv, Israel, where they introduced medicine and dentistry studies to young Israelis. During their visit Vilnius University’s team also conducted motivational interviews with prospective students.

The Centre of Smart Cities and Infrastructure, which Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) established together with business partners, was opened in KTU Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture earlier this week.

Vilnius Gediminas Technical University offers to try Master degree studies before the admission and to choose to study one of the Master degree courses this spring semester. This is available for the last year undergraduate students of VGTU or other universities as well as graduates who already have Bachelor degree diploma. The course is free of charge for the holders of EU citizenship and VGTU students.

Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) is continuing to cooperate in the Faculty of Fundamental Sciences with VGTU engineering lyceum. This time the lecturer Edgaras Timinskas, together with Class 12 pupils, organized a second time design of virtual city. City project was created for the Mars planet. The aim of these activities was to make schoolchildren aware of design techniques and methods and to establish the knowledge of a virtual city in practice.

Lithuania's Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis has submitted the candidacy of Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) Rector Assoc. Prof. Algirdas Monkevičius for the post of Minister of Education, Science and Sport.

According to international Science and Studies Monitoring and Analysis Center (MOSTA) experts, who assessed all Lithuanian higher education institutions this autumn, School of Economics and Business of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU SEB) has made good progress in three years and has become a strong international player. The School’s potential was evaluated with the highest score.
