The seventh EU-Korea summit will take place in Brussels on 8 November 2013.
The EU will be represented by Herman Van Rompuy, President of the European Council, and by José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission. The Republic of Korea will be represented by President Park Geun-hye, who took office earlier this year after her election in December 2012. Commissioners Karel De Gucht (Trade) and Máire Geoghegan Quinn (Research, Innovation and Science) will also participate.

The European Parliament should use its powers to reconsider EU-US data transfer deals and push for the creation of a European privacy cloud, EU-level protection for whistleblowers and a strong judicial authorisation of surveillance activities, data protection and intelligence experts told MEPs at the eighth Civil Liberties Committee hearing on surveillance of EU citizens. Creating a European Intelligence Service is not a solution, they added.

6 November, at the meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (COREPER I) EU Member States agreed to send the letter to the European Parliament to ask its consent for the conclusion of the protocol to the Fisheries Partnership Agreement between the EU and Morocco.

The Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Rolandas Kriščiūnas is attending World Economic Forum Strategic Dialogue on the Future of Ukraine in Kyiv on 6 November.

The event focuses on scenarios of Ukraine's economic development, especially after the signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, including the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area. Ukraine is expected to sign the Association Agreement with the EU during the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit in November in Vilnius, if Ukraine meets the requirements set by the EU Foreign Affairs Council.

Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius has on November 5 in Brussels met Turkey's Minister for EU Affairs and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bağış and Minister of Development Dr. Cevdet Yilmaz and underlined the importance of maintaining the momentum achieved by opening of a new chapter in Turkey's EU accession negotiations.

An EP event on how to boost growth in the EU, especially in member states that have been affected the most by the crisis, takes place in Athens on Monday 4 November from 9.00 to 16.00 CET. EP president Martin Schulz will be the keynote speaker at the South for Growth event, organised by the European Parliament information offices in Greece, Cyprus, Italy, Ireland, Portugal and Spain.

The European Commission is allocating €2.5 million in humanitarian assistance to the worst-affected victims of the earthquake that shook the Philippines on 15 October.
