According to the President, Lithuania and Greece are linked by strong, friendly ties in political, cultural and other areas, which are consolidated by the membership of our countries in the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.
"The bond between our nations is in the spotlight this year: on January 1 Greece took over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union from Lithuania. I would like to take the opportunity to congratulate Greece on the efficient start of its presidency and to wish the best of success in continuing the work started. I strongly believe that, during the EU presidency, our cooperation based on shared values and interests will contribute in a meaningful way to building a strong, secure and united Europe, as well as to advancing the general good and prosperity of all people," the President wrote in her message of congratulations.
President Grybauskaitė wished happiness, well-being and joy to Greece's President and to all the people of his country.
