A bilateral meeting will focus on measures to ensure the security of the Baltic States. Lithuania's President and U.S. Vice President will also review bilateral relations and discuss the situation in Ukraine.
Following the bilateral meeting, a trilateral meeting of Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė, Latvian President Andris Bērziņš and U.S. Vice President Joe Biden will be held. Statements to the press by Lithuanian and Latvian Presidents and U.S. Vice President are scheduled after the meeting. They will be broadcast live online and on Lithuanian National Television. According to President Grybauskaitė, the United States is a strategic partner and ally of the Baltic countries strongly supporting the security of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Last autumn, the presidents of the three Baltic countries met with U.S. President Barack Obama in Washington. During the meeting, a joint political declaration was signed where it was reiterated that the United States of America had a real, profound, and enduring interest in the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.
