Famous Hollywood director Bruce Franklin visited Kaunas to gather as much information as possible about a character for a possible film. In the director's nearest plans is a movie about the life of the Japanese diplomat Chiune Sugihara.

Intermedix Corporation opened a service centre in Kaunas to support technology and operations. The Kaunas office was the company's first in Europe.
