WorldParliament is finalising its recommendations on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP). They will be debated by MEPs on Tuesday and voted on Wednesday. The vote on the EP recommendations was postponed in June due to the large number of amendments. Now it seems a compromise could be possible. We talked to German S&D member Bernd Lange, chair of the international trade committee and responsible for drafting the Parliament's recommendations, to find out more. Today, European Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development, Neven Mimica, co-signed new regional funding for cooperation with representatives of regional organisations from West Africa, covering the time until 2020. The so-called Regional Indicative Programme under the 11th European Development Fund amounts to a total of €1.15 billion. The attacks killing around 150 people in two villages in north eastern Borno state in Nigeria and targeting Muslim worshippers during the holy month of Ramadan are another attempt to destabilise the country and the region. Vice-President of the European Central Bank (ECB) Vitor Constancio who is attending a conference at the Bank of Lithuania says that the referendum in Greece will have a huge impact on potential agreement between Athens and its creditors. In a response to floods in Georgia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania will allocate EUR 12,000 in humanitarian aid to victims. The funds will be used to assist the most severely affected families and to liquidate consequences of the floods. The funds will be channelled through the Ministry of Finance of Georgia. EP President Martin Schulz said the EU institutions are appealing to the Greek people to vote in favour of their proposals during Sunday's referendum. Speaking about proposals made to continue economic support for the country, Schulz said yesterday this represented "a hand stretched to the Greek people", adding that the result of the referendum would prove "fundamental" to Greece's position in the euro zone. The European Union is increasing its humanitarian response to help people affected by the crisis in eastern Ukraine, with a new aid package worth €15 million announced today by European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides during his visit. Chinese Premier Li Keqiang visited the European Parliement in Brussels today where he was welcomed by President Martin Schulz. Following the meeting they had, Schulz tweeted it had been "a very useful meeting on security, climate, trade, investment and the euro zone". The chain of attacks in France, Tunisia and Kuwait is a stark reminder that no country and no region can ignore the challenge posed by terrorists. They aim at destabilising our societies by spreading fear, suspicion, prejudice. Both Europe and the Arab world are targeted.
