The Speaker thanked the Ambassador for the cooperation in maintaining active relations with Ukraine and assured him that Lithuania would remain a committed partner of Ukraine on its road to European integration and would give full support to Ukraine in settling the conflict with Russia and overcoming the complex economic situation. Lithuania welcomes the agreement for long-term comprehensive solution on the Iranian nuclear program signed by the United States, United Kingdom, China, Russia, France, Germany and Iran. We applaud the intensive diplomatic efforts led by EU High Representative Federica Mogherini, based on the mandate received from the UN Security Council, which made this agreement possible. Full implementation of this Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action will positively contribute to regional and international peace and security. European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker will travel to Cyprus this week (Thursday 16 July and Friday 17 July) at the invitation of President Nikos Anastasiades. It will be President Juncker's first official visit to the island since becoming President of the European Commission. The President will be accompanied by the Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management, Christos Stylianides. The Greek government and its Eurozone creditors have finally reached an agreement over a third Greek bailout after marathon overnight talks in Brussels. A reform of the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS), informally agreed with the Latvian Presidency of the Council, was endorsed by Parliament on Wednesday. The reform is intended to reduce the surplus of carbon credits available for trading in order to support the price of the emission rights. The scheme will start operating in 2019. Parliament condemned in the strongest possible terms the genocide in Srebrenica of 11 July 1995 and said that "such horrendous crimes must never happen again", in a vote on Thursday. MEPs regret that the UN Security Council failed to pass a resolution commemorating the genocide and call for acceleration of war crimes prosecution at international and domestic level. MEPs call, in four separate resolutions, for the withdrawal of the Cambodian government's law on NGOs and trade unions; the release of Yves Makwambala and Fred Bauma in the DRC; the release of human rights defender Nabeel Rajab in Bahrain; and of two Christian pastors detained in Sudan, Michael Yat and Peter Yen Reith. One person died and about 20 people were injured due to whirlwind which appeared on Wednesday in Pianiga region near Venice, north of Italy. There are great losses; many houses lost their roofs due to the wind. An EU-US trade deal must open up US market access for EU firms, but must not undermine EU standards, say MEPs in recommendations, voted Wednesday, to EU trade negotiators. To settle trade-related investor-state disputes, a new justice system, run by publicly-appointed judges and subject to scrutiny and transparency rules, should replace private arbitration under the Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS) system, they add. Romania, Bulgaria and Italy will receive €66.5 million in total for compensation to cover part of the cost of emergency measures taken during the 2014 floods, after Parliament approved a Commission proposal for this on Tuesday.
