Lithuania to allocate revenues from excise duty on manufactured tobacco for prevention2014-11-22, 15:00The Seimas of Lithuania had decided to allocate 2% of revenues from excise duty on manufactured tobacco to the Programme for the Prevention of Use of Psychoactive Substances (Inter-institutional Action Plan) approved by the Government, the Seimas press service said. In the first ten months of 2014 year-on-year, the number of air passengers in Lithuania increased by a tenth. However, fewer goods were transported by air. Based on the data of Statistics Lithuania, in January-October 2014, the number of passengers at airports stood at 3.3 million, by 8.9% more year-on-year. In May 2015, the Lithuanian Armed Forces will be holding Exercise Lightning Strike (Zaibo Kirtis), one of the biggest exercises of the Lithuanian Rapid Response Force that will also examine the readiness of the mobilisation system in Lithuania for the first time in 15 years. Storebrand Baltic, with the recent addition of an IT development branch, is the fastest growing company in the Norwegian Storebrand Group. Butkevičius: investors favourably view improved business conditions2014-11-14, 12:32According to Investors' Forum research data, as much as 95 percent of investors favourably view political stability in Lithuania. Businesses are building trust in authorities and are not hoping for radical reforms. These factors and the approaching euro adoption are attracting foreign investors. The Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius says he is pleased with research results that show investors' positive attitude towards Government efforts to improve business environment. |
