Since the beginning of this school year, forced afternoon naps are abolished in kindergartens in Vilnius. At parents/guardians’ request, children who do not sleep shall be offered quiet activities that do not disturb the rest of other children: drawing, production of collages, plasticine, modelling clay moulding, playing with kinetic sand etc.

On Tuesday, Parliament adopted its position on reducing groundwater and surface waters pollution and improving EU water quality standards.

A new mandatory parking regime for e-scooters in the central part of the capital city comes into force from the 1st of September. It will allow e-scooter riders using sharing platforms to leave their rented scooters in the centre of Vilnius only in designated parking spaces.

A second aid package from Lithuanian electricity transmission system operator Litgrid has reached Ukraine, it will help rebuild the energy infrastructure of the country affected by the war. The package consists of an autotransformer delivered to Ukraine this week and other power grid equipment shipped earlier this year. The total market value of the equipment is about €3.6 million.

On 4-5 September, Marius Skuodis, Minister of Transport and Communications of Lithuania, will pay a visit to Munich, Germany – at the invitation of Dr Volker Wissing, Federal Minister for Digital Affairs and Transport, Minister will take part in the Ministers’ meeting and the international conference on the promotion of sustainable mobility and the development of the use of e-fuels in the transport sector. Minister Skuodis will also visit one of the largest mobility exhibitions, IAA Mobility 2023, to be opened by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

In July, residents of the Vilnius District Municipality, residents and members of garden communities took part in a responsible waste management campaign initiated by the Municipality. During the campaign, residents were invited to deliver their waste to large waste collection sites and were given “thank you” gifts for their conscious behaviour.
