On 2 June, Lithuania's Parliament, the Seimas, approved the draft Law on Concession of the three airports managed by the State Enterprise Lithuanian Airports. The draft law entrusting the management of the air gateways to an operator with a great deal of international experience was submitted by the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Though the summer season in aviation began at the end of March, most of regular seasonal flights at Lithuanian airports will start in June. Vilnius and Palanga airports will each welcome the arrival of two new airlines; flights favoured by travellers will also come back for the summer season.

Avia Solutions Group (ASG), the largest Lithuanian-owed aviation business group, is setting up a cargo airline in Russia together with local partners.

Hungary's low-cost airline Wizz Air will launch flights between the Lithuanian capital Vilnius and Nice, France, in early August 2016.

Law-enforcement officers on May 30th conducted searches at the office and home of the director of the Lithuanian unit of Bertona Holdings Limited, a company controlled by Nerijus Numavicius, the largest shareholder of Vilniaus Prekyba, the country's biggest business group, as part of a suspected corruption case involving politicians and the MG Baltic group, sources have said.

Vilnius, Lithuania: The 2nd Cavalry Regiment will conduct Dragoon Ride II from May 27 through 15 of June, 2016. This exercice consists on a vehicle road march using Stryker Combat Vehicles, Field Artillery Howitzers and support vehicles, which are departing from Germany (Rose Barracks) and arriving to Estonia (Tapa), attach to the regiment is a German reconnaissance company from Panzerbrigade 12.

Parliament approved aid on Thursday worth €6,468,000 for 557 redundant workers from the “Larissa” supermarket in Greece and €5,146,800 for 2,132 former drivers for the road haulage and delivery firm MoryGlobal SAS in France. The European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) aid will still need to be approved by the Council of Ministers on 6 June.

Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, today celebrates the 12th anniversary of its first flight. The European Commission has officially demanded that Latvia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Hungary and Slovakia amend their legislation regulating purchases of agricultural land, arguing that they restrict free movement of capital and the freedom of doing business, warning that it might take the above countries to the Court of Justice of the European Union.
