On Wednesday, at the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP29) in Azerbaijan's capital, Minister of Environment Simonas Gentvilas presented Lithuania’s national report, reaffirming the country’s strong commitment to global climate goals and their implementation.

Between January 26-29, Consul General of Lithuania in Los Angeles, Sandra Brikaitė and the Consulate's economic team visited San Francisco and the Bay Area, where they met with U.S. officials and representatives of the Lithuanian diaspora. They also participated in the "Photonics West 2025" exhibition and attended other economic meetings, aiming to strengthen bilateral ties and develop partnerships in technology and innovation.

February 4, the Cyber Defence Command of the Lithuanian Armed Forces has been inaugurated at a ceremony in Vilnius. The new command will strengthen the defensive capabilities of the Lithuanian Armed Forces in cyber domain, plan and execute cyber operations, integrate strategic and operational level communications and IT systems.

Lithuania continues unwavering support to Ukraine. In the end of Last week UAVs made by Lithuanian manufacturers, thermal imaging equipment and 5-ton telescopic loaders were transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The potassium iodide pills previously distributed to residents and municipalities are about to expire and will be renewed shortly. Lithuania has purchased almost 5 million new tablets for €500,000, which will be distributed through pharmacies and municipalities to the residents of 17 municipalities within a 100 km radius of the Astravas nuclear power plant. Residents will be able to collect their tablets from their municipalities or from designated pharmacies.

Baltic Culture Fund invites to submit applications for the funding tender by 22 February. The amount of the Fund for 2025 is €300,000.
