“We cannot slow down the assistance to Ukraine because Ukraine’s security concerns are our security concerns. We have the same amount of time that Ukraine does. Since we have removed bureaucratic obstacles, the aid will be getting to Ukraine even faster,” said Minister of National Defence Dovilė Šakalienė.
Majors directions of assistance this year are planned to be for urgent needs (air defence, ammunition, drones, drone jamming equipment) while simultaneously developing the Lithuanian defence industry and support to Ukraine’s defence industry by providing financing to weaponry production in Ukraine.
Lithuania will also be contributing to the Capability Coalition for Demining that it leads together with Iceland, as well as to other capability coalition it is a member of. Military assistance will also be transferred via international funds and collective initiatives, medical rehabilitation aid to injured Ukrainian troops and training to Ukrainian military personnel will continue to be provide.
Since the breakout of the war, Lithuania has delivered to Ukraine military assistance worth of EUR 754 million. Lithuania’s overall support for Ukraine for the long-haul has exceeded a billion and a half euros.
