On 7 June 2016, at the meeting between Loreta Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas, and Saber Chowdhury, President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), it was noted that the IPU was an important global parliamentary forum which had become the centrepiece of inter-parliamentary dialogue and parliamentary diplomacy. In close cooperation with the United Nations, the IPU makes a major contribution to international resolution of conflicts, conflict prevention and protection of human rights.

On 8 June, the chargé d'affaires of the Embassy of Belarus to Lithuania Lyudmila Tatarinovich was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania and requested to immediately provide detailed information about another alleged incident at the would-be Astravets nuclear power plant (NPP).

The cure to the EU's ills is more solidarity, more rule of law, more synergies and more integration, Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev told MEPs on 8 June. "Integration is the only weapon we have to achieve peace, security and human development," he said in plenary, adding: "Erecting borders is a tempting, yet temporary and not sustainable solution." The President also condemned what he called Russia's efforts to destabilise the EU and erode trust in the European project.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with security and foreign policy experts from the U.S. research and analysis institute The Jamestown Foundation to discuss the geopolitical situation in Europe and in its neighborhood, regional cooperation in the field of defense and preparations for the upcoming NATO summit in Warsaw.

The Czech Republic plans sending a rotational company-sized unit to train in the Baltic States in 2017, the confirmation of which Minister of National Defence Juozas Olekas was given by Minister of Defence of the Czech Republic Martin Stropnický during his visit in Vilnius.

On Friday, Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevičius has met with President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker in Brussels. In the meeting, the Prime Minister has asked the President of the European Commission for additional targeted support for Lithuania’s milk producers, has highlighted the importance of power grid synchronization with Europe (via Poland), and expressed concern about environmental threats for the region caused by the nuclear power station in Astravets (Belarus).

On June 2, Lithuanian Foreign Minister, Linas Linkevičius, took part in the Wroclaw Global Forum in Poland. The event was focused on the shaping of the European policy and on the strengthening of transatlantic relations. The forum is attended by politicians and experts from European countries and the USA.

Loreta Graužinienė, Speaker of the Seimas, met with Volodymyr Groysman, Prime Minister of Ukraine, to discuss the work of the Assembly of Members of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, the Sejm and Senate of the Republic of Poland, and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, that was held in Kiev, and to share the impressions from her weekend’s visit to Dnipro.
