On 15 September, Lithuania's Minister-designate of Foreign Affairs, Kęstutis Budrys, participated in an informal discussion organised by the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists, titled ‘Lithuanian Industry 25/26: Season Opening’, focused on current economic policy issues.

President Gitanas Nausėda, currently on a visit to Finland, together with Finland’s Minister of Defense Antti Häkkänen, opened the Lithuania-Finland Defense Industry and Science Forum on High-Tech Cooperation.

On Tuesday, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Kęstutis Budrys participated in the Bled Strategic Forum international conference session "Europe Secure and Free." The minister stressed that the main long-term threat to a free and secure Europe is Russia with its unwillingness to abandon imperialist ambitions. According to Budrys, Russia’s actions are not random, but part of a consistent and deliberate revisionist strategy.

On Monday, President Gitanas Nausėda met with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, at the Lithuania–Belarus border to review the border security situation. At their bilateral meeting, the leaders discussed the protection of the European Union’s eastern frontier and support for Ukraine.

The European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) Group congratulates its Lithuanian member parties – the Lithuanian Farmers and Greens Union (LVŽS), led by ECR MEP Aurelijus Veryga, and the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania–Christian Families Alliance (LLRA–KŠS), led by ECR MEP Waldemar Tomaszewski – on the successful conclusion of coalition negotiations with the Social Democrats.

On August 18, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, Julius Pranevičius, met with Gianluca Rocco, Director of the Sub-regional Office of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Brussels, and his delegation visiting Lithuania.

On Thursday, 21 August, an extraordinary session of the Seimas will be convened, during which parliamentarians are likely to decide on the approval of Inga Ruginienė as prime minister.

On August 6, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Kęstutis Budrys, had a telephone conversation with the Secretary General of NATO, Mark Rutte. The conversation focused on the security situation in the region, recent drone incidents in Lithuania and the necessary measures to ensure the security of NATO airspace.

President Gitanas Nausėda, together with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, who is on an official visit to Lithuania, took part in the Lithuania–Israel Economic, Business, and Science Forum.

Last Thursday, President Gitanas Nausėda presented letters of credence to Lithuania’s newly appointed ambassadors to the United States of America, the United Kingdom and Estonia.
