During the discussion, the head of Lithuania's diplomacy emphasized that ensuring state security is — and will remain — a vital priority, both now and when Lithuania stands at the helm of the Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2027.
"In today's geopolitical reality, we must invest strategically in the defence industry, strengthen our soft power that enhanses national resilience, so that we won’t need to rely on hard power in the future," Budrys said.
According to the Minister, a strong defence industry and its successful development are crucial elements of state security, which require close cooperation between the public and private sectors.
During the informal discussion, the minister also highlighted Lithuania’s focused efforts in implementing both national and EU-wide ambitious economic security policies a whole.
