On May the 9th the ATHENATHON health awareness event is coming to an end. This month long ATHENA Alliance project is dedicated to commemorating Europe Day, at the beginning of which we invited the communities of all ATHENA Alliance universities to move and travel 11,000 kilometers together.

On 5 May, Vilnius University (VU) and UAB TELTONIKA IoT GROUP signed a cooperation agreement to develop research and business and to improve VU study programmes in areas that align with the company’s activities. The company looking for modern solutions will cooperate with several VU faculties, students will be awarded special scholarships and it is also planned to establish a research laboratory at the VU Faculty of Physics.

MRU's team of researchers, led by Public Governance and Business Faculty Prof. Paulo Alexandre De Silva Pereira, also head of the MRU Environmental Management Laboratory are participating in an Erasmus+ funded project. Titled, "Synergy of Educational, Scientific, Management and Industrial Components for Climate Change Prevention" (CLIMAN), it unites 11 international partners. They come from different countries including: Georgia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Belarus and Ukraine. The Netherlands Business Academy is leading the consortium.

The Arqus Academy Week 2021, hosted by Vilnius University, has started on Monday 3rd May with an Opening session where Dorothy Kelly, Coordinator of the Arqus Alliance, as well as the leaders of the Arqus Action Lines have presented the main goals and achievements of Arqus and have discussed the significance of Arqus activities and their impact on partner universities, stakeholders, and the society. The session was moderated by Artūras Vasiliauskas, Pro-Rector for partnerships at Vilnius University.

The Article “Realization of deep-blue TADF in sterically controlled naphthyridines for vacuum- and solution-processed OLEDs” published by scientists of the Institute of Photonics and Nanotechnologies and Faculty of Chemistry and Geosciences of Vilnius University (VU) has been recognised and included in the collection of the 50 most popular articles of the Journal of Materials Chemistry C of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). Given that almost 2,000 scientific papers are published in the journal each year, to be included in the top 50 signifies the outstanding relevance of the VU scientists’ work.

The Agency for Science, Innovation and Technology (MITA) invites startup teams to register for the third co-hort of the “TechHub” pre-acceleration program. During the program 25 startups will participate in a three-month training course, in which, with the help of personal mentors and innovation experts, will develop their ideas, get acquainted with investors and business angels, gain the necessary knowledge for further business development, find new team members and receive services worth 25,000 Eur.

On 14th May, from 9:00 to 11:30 CEST (UTC+2), Vilnius University holds the online event "Life Sciences sector in Lithuania: Opportunities for researchers", an event where different experts will present the Lithuanian Life Sciences sector and career opportunities in two research-intensive companies: Thermo Fisher Scientific Baltics and UAB Experimentica.
