The Latvian airline airBaltic, on December 19, 2017, hosted the first Open Day initiative for candidates who are interested to apply to join the airline’s newly established Pilot Academy at airBalticTraining. In the light of the significant state restoration anniversary of Lithuania VGTU Multimedia and Computer Design students have chosen the legend of the founding of Vilnius for their virtual reality workshop at VGTU “LinkMenų fabrikas“. The center of the legend was an iconic dream, in which Gediminas saw an iron wolf in the current place of Vilnius.

The creativity and innovation centre “LinkMenų Fabrikas” at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) and its partners created the world’s smallest nativity scene. It has just been submitted for review to a panel of judges from the Guinness World Records. The scene is an exact replica of the nativity scene at the Cathedral square in Vilnius. It has been reduced 10 000 times to reach the size of one-third of a millimetre.

On December 7, Rector of Klaipėda University prof. dr. habil. Eimutis Juzeliūnas signed a cooperation agreement Prof. em. Dr. Dr. h.c. mult. Winfried Böttcher, Head of Klaus Mehnert European Studies and Research Institute. Under this agreement, the first German research institute in the Baltic States begins to operate at Klaipėda University. On December 8, a scientific discussion Regional Europe took place whose aim was to present the aims and aspirations of the Institute to the KU academic community.

Professor Sigitas Tamulevičius, Head of Materials Science Institute at Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) was bestowed Kaunas City Award for Science. The Award is being given for the highest achievements in science and innovative ideas and their implementation in Kaunas city.

38 PhD students of Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) will receive additional scholarships of 900 euros for their exceptional achievements in research activities. Among the awardees are 10 international students.
