On the last day of 2019 the number of passengers travelling via Vilnius Airport exceeded 5 million. This number signifies the biggest flow of passengers in the history of the airport, serviced by the airport per one year.

Biotechpharma, a Vilnius-based company controlled by scientist and businessman Vladas Bumelis, has founded a biotechnological pharmaceutical company in the US city of Boston, with around 25 million euros planned to be invested in the project.

Vilnius Airport, a part of the Lithuanian Airports network, today announced a public procurement and is looking for a contractor to be entrusted with the construction of the new two-story passenger departure terminal module in the northern part of the airport. After the construction of this 14.4 thousand square meters terminal, the total area of passenger terminals at Vilnius Airport will increase by one third and the passenger throughput will double from 1,200 passengers per hour to 2,400.

Amber Grid signed on Monday an 80-million-euro contract for the construction of the Lithuanian part of the Gas Interconnector Poland-Lithuania (GIPL) with Alvora, a local pipeline construction company that won the public procurement procedure earlier this year.

A new LNG cargo from the United States, a 3rd in the five years of operation of the LNG terminal in Klaipeda, is on its way to Lithuania. Sources have told BNS the cargo is meant for the Jonava-based fertilizer producer Achema.
