Kormotech, a family-owned pet food manufacturer from Ukraine, has completed its new factory in Lithuania. The wet pet food plant in Kėdainiai Free Economic Zone (FEZ) will help the company to increase production capacity and reach customers in other countries more efficiently. The investment exceeds EUR 15 million, informed Invest Lithuania. Over the last four years, industrial group BLRT Group has invested 100 million euros in strengthening the competitiveness of the Western Shipyard group of companies belonging to the group as well as the development of production units located in Klaipeda. Lithuania is likely to be allocated a mere 30 million euros under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) on Friday, far below the 236 million euros in additional EU funding it sought for the construction of Rail Baltica's section from Kaunas to the Latvian border, Deputy Transport Minister Gytis Mazeika confirmed on July 16th. Lithuanian Finance Minister Vilius Sapoka says the government will carefully weigh any increase in spending and will table a "safe" draft 2021 budget in the autumn. A total of 2.5 terawatt-hours (TWh) of natural gas were transported through Lithuania to Latvia in the first half of 2020, a two-fold increase from 1.2 TWh in the same period last year. Lithuanian households' net wealth averages 84,300 euros, well below the European average of 229,200 euros, but wealth inequality in the country is among the lowest in Europe, according to the European Household Finance and Consumption Survey. Lithuania's industrial producer prices fell by 11.4 percent in June compared with a year ago but rose by 2.7% from a month before, figures from Statistics Lithuania showed on Friday. Lithuania's real estate market has recorded growth for the second month in a row after hitting the bottom in the spring, but the number of transactions is still below the average levels seen before the coronavirus lockdown. A new cargo of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia's gas company Novatek arrived in the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda on Thursday. |
