EconomyElenger signed a contract with the company Klaipedos Nafta, which operates the Klaipeda terminal in Lithuania, to start purchasing LNG via a floating terminal Independence in Klaipeda and transferring it to the natural gas network. Klaipeda's Elme Metall Lithuania, a company selling metal profiles, part of the Estonian BLRT Grupp group, plans to expand its business to Vilnius. Inter RAO Lietuva, a Lithuanian electricity supplier controlled by Russia's energy giant Inter RAO, posted 14.2 mln euros in consolidated net profit in the first nine months of this year, up 77.5 from 8 mln euros in the same period last year. The listed Estonian shipping group Tallink Grupp, holder of a franchise for restaurants of the global fast food chain Burger King in the Baltic states, has established subsidiaries for opening restaurants in Lithuania and Latvia. Lithuanian oil refiner Orlen Lietuva, owned by Polish oil group Orlen, is getting ready for investments worth several hundred million euros. The weakening of Norway's krone against the euro has not yet hit Lithuanian exports to the market, but exporters say they have already begun to feel pressure to cut product and service prices in talks with their Norwegian partners. In September 2019, exports amounted to EUR 2.54 bn, imports – EUR 2.59 bn. Exports of goods of Lithuanian origin amounted to EUR 1.51 bn. The foreign trade deficit of Lithuania amounted to EUR 0.05 bn. Baltic Ground Services (BGS), which is part of the Lithuanian-owned, Warsaw-listed aviation business group Avia Solutions Group, is set to invest 30 mln euros in electric buses at airports. The volumes of cargo transported by Lithuania's state-run railway company Lietuvos Gelezinkeliai (Lithuanian Railways, LG) might drop slightly this year after the share of Russian cargo carried via Lithuania has gone down, and the tendency might continue into next year. Luminor plans to launch a debt capital markets offering for large companies, a move that will help businesses to broaden their funding alternatives, the service will be led by Luminor's new head of markets Paulius Zurauskas. |
