Bank of Lithuania issued warning regarding Binance, UAB and other crypto-asset service providers2021-07-18, 18:46The Bank of Lithuania has warned a virtual currency exchange operator Binance, UAB about its unlicensed investment services provided in Lithuania and ordered the company to ensure that its publicly available information is not misleading. The Bank of Lithuania has also noted that crypto-asset related services are not regulated or supervised, thus consumers risk losing all their investments. Gediminas Šimkus, Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, has nominated thirty‑seven-year-old economist Simonas Krėpšta as a candidate for the position of Member of the Board of the central bank. The nomination has been presented to Gitanas Nausėda, President of the Republic of Lithuania. Over the past two years, Mr Krėpšta has served as Chief Adviser to the President and is Head of the Economic and Social Policy Group of the presidential office. Previously, Mr Krėpšta worked at the Bank of Lithuania for more than a decade. Commission fines car manufacturers €875 million for restricting competition in emission cleaning for new diesel passenger cars2021-07-12, 14:51The European Commission has found that Daimler, BMW and Volkswagen group (Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche) breached EU antitrust rules by colluding on technical development in the area of nitrogen oxide cleaning. The Commission has imposed a fine of € 875 189 000. Daimler was not fined, as it revealed the existence of the cartel to the Commission. All parties acknowledged their involvement in the cartel and agreed to settle the case. On Thursday, a meeting of Gediminas Šimkus, Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Lithuania, and Kyrylo Shevchenko, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, took place in Vilnius, Lithuania. Lithuania borrowed EUR 750 million in the international capital markets by issuing a 30-year Eurobond. The annual coupon was set at 0.75 per cent. Lithuania and Ukraine aim to develop economic relations through the seaports of both countries2021-07-09, 10:12On 7 July, Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Lithuania Marius Skuodis and Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov met in Klaipėda and discussed cooperation between the countries in the transport sector and possible new projects. The countries intend to strengthen cooperation in the areas of railway and transport digitalisation, as well as increase the capacity potential of the seaports of both countries. During the study visit, the Ukrainian Minister was introduced to the opportunities and capacity of Klaipėda State Seaport and JSC Lithuanian Railways. Lithuanian Airports are launching an international tender to lease the existing fuel storage facilities at Vilnius and Palanga airports for ten years to manage the existing infrastructure as efficiently as possible. |
