LTG Cargo, the freight transport company of the Lietuvos Geležinkeliai (LTG) Group, continues to actively diversify its activities. The Company has launched intermodal freight services from Kaunas Intermodal Terminal (KIT) to terminals in Poland. Freight trips will be arranged upon customer order.

The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Lithuania, the European Court of Auditors and the Lithuanian Banking Association are organizing an international finance conference “Making Green Finance a reality in the Baltics” in Vilnius on June 3 to discuss the implementation of the European Green Deal and to share insights on the challenges of the climate change from a perspective of the financial sector.

The Innovation Agency Lithuania established by the Ministry of Economy and Innovation has officially been launched. The agency will be responsible for the Lithuanian innovation ecosystem and the promotion of innovation at all stages of business development – from developing ideas to delivering products to end users.

The Government presented a wide-ranging package of measures entitled “Mitigation of the Effects of Inflation and Strengthening Energy Independence” with allocation of EUR 2.26 billion to absorb energy price shocks, to increase personal income and to strengthen Lithuania’s energy independence. Minister of Finance Gintarė Skaistė, who started the presentation, noted that the proposed measures were oriented towards the support to people, businesses and the implementation of public projects.

The priorities for 2023’s EU budget, according to MEPs, should be the economic recovery, health, youth and climate action, and dealing with the impact of the invasion of Ukraine.

LTG Infra, the company responsible for the implementation of the Rail Baltica project in Lithuania, has signed a works contract with the Italian company Rizzani de Eccher for the construction of the Rail Baltica railway bridge over Neris near Jonava. The contract was signed following the conclusion of the Government’s National Security Commission (NSK) confirming the compliance of the Italian company with the interests of national security. The value of the transaction is almost EUR 64 million excluding VAT.

On Wednesday, March 30th, 2022, Switzerland’s largest air carrier SWISS have launched direct regular flights between Vilnius and Zurich. Flights will be performed twice weekly – on Wednesdays and Saturdays. This new route is of strategic importance for both Lithuanian Airports and the tourism and business sectors.

At least 150 routes to reach Lithuania by air, development of climate-neutral and sustainable aviation, a significantly higher position in the global accessibility rating, increasing the GDP generated to 5 % – these are the main targets and the country’s aviation vision for 2030 emphasised by Minister of Transport and Communications Marius Skuodis on Tuesday at the presentation of the Lithuanian Aviation Guidelines 2030.

The Ministry of Finance (MoF) together with the Bank of Lithuania (BoL), Financial Crime Investigation Service (FCIS) and the Centre of Excellence in Anti-Money Laundering have prepared the amendments to the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing aimed at strengthening the management of money laundering risks in the cryptocurrency sector, increasing its transparency and more stringent regulation of the operating conditions of service providers.
