Workers made redundant in six companies producing household appliances in Attica, Greece, should receive €1.5 million in EU aid.

Lithuanian businesses that have suffered difficulties as a result of China's actions can now apply for working capital loans. A stimulus financial facility prepared by the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation is being launched today, allowing businesses to receive loans of up to €5 million, and groups of companies up to €10 million. A total of €130 million is planned.

Lithuania and Kazakhstan seek to increase the volume of bilateral trade through much closer cooperation in the fields of transport and logistics, according to Marius Skuodis, the Minister of Transport and Communications, who is currently visiting Kazakhstan. During the opening of the Lithuania-Kazakhstan Business Forum in Almaty, the Minister encouraged the entrepreneurs of Kazakhstan to make more active use of the possibilities for cooperation, as well as to increase the opportunities for cargo transportation by rail and through Klaipėda Seaport.

Ministry of the Economy and Innovation has provided contracting authorities with further clarifications and solutions for reviewing fixed prices in the existing contracts or providing for the possibility to do so in the context of the award of new contracts.

On 15 June, the 5G Sandbox developed by the Ministry of Transport and Communications will be introduced to the business and scientific community in Vilnius. During the event, insights and already tested practices on the potential of 5G and opportunities for business and the economy will be shared, business and science engagement and international cooperation in the implementation of Lithuania’s 5G Sandbox initiative will be promoted.

On 6-7 June, the 3Seas Local Government Congress and the Economic Forum held in Lublin (Poland) discussed the development of the Baltic Sea–Black Sea/Aegean corridor in the new geopolitical context. The development of this corridor to the territory of Lithuania and the cooperation of the countries in the transport of Ukrainian products through Poland to the Baltic seaports were discussed at the bilateral meeting between the Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications of Lithuania Julius Skačkauskas and the Minister of Infrastructure of Poland Andrzej Adamczyk. This was further discussed in the Economic Forum.

As the European Commission reviews the development plans for the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), important transport connections should be included in this network, both the new European high-speed rail line to Klaipėda and the railway connections with Ukraine. This is the proposal for the development of TEN-T made by Marius Skuodis, the Minister of Transport and Communications, at the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy (TTE) Council of the European Union (EU) in Luxembourg on 2-3 June.

Lithuania continues to provide incentives for the purchase of electric vehicles – the country’s residents and companies can already apply for compensation for the purchase of pure electric vehicles from the funds allocated from the Modernisation Fund. To this end, it is planned to disburse 50 million euros of this fund by the end of 2026, which will encourage purchase of more than 14 thousand electric vehicles.

On 2 June, the Minister of Transport and Communications Marius Skuodis will attend the European Union (EU) Transport, Telecommunications and Energy (TTE) Council in Luxembourg, where he will discuss with EU colleagues the transport investments of EU importance, development of sustainable, innovative and environmentally friendly transport, and further support to Ukraine.
