The Bank of Lithuania published the audited data of electronic money institution (EMI) and payment institution (PI) sector for 2021: the institutions had almost 10 million customers and revenues grew 3.5 times. In the context of supervision of the sector, the central bank assessed the growing risks and focused on individual inspections and sectoral analyses, which covered around 70 market participants.

Used cooking oil, synthetic fuel or even hydrogen should gradually become the norm as aviation fuel to help EU become climate neutral by 2050, said MEPs on Thursday.

As Lithuania pursues a rapid transition to renewable energy, the first nation-wide study to be carried out on the development of the hydrogen sector shows that Lithuania has the potential to become a significant player in the development and transportation of hydrogen resources in Europe. The study was presented at an event held at the Ministry of Energy by consulting companies Baringa Consulting Limited and Civitta, which conducted the study in cooperation with Lithuanian gas transmission system operator Amber Grid and the EPSO-G Group.

The Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė, who is visiting the US city of Philadelphia, will present the investment environment in Lithuania, possibilities to promote mutual trade and economic relations in meetings with representatives of the Pennsylvania state, the Lithuanian business community in the US and Canada, and Lithuanian honorary consuls.

The InvestEU programme, launched by the European Commission with the EIB Group as the main implementing partner, seeks to boost crucial investments across Europe in support of the European Union’s policy priorities, such as the European Green Deal and the digital transition. The programme consists of three components: the InvestEU Fund, the InvestEU Advisory Hub and the InvestEU Portal.

Ukrainian businesses that have decided to start operations in our country after 24 February this year can already apply for subsidies for job creation and establishment. Up to €2 million in total will be available for subsidies under this measure developed by the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation. This measure has already been approved by the Government.

LTG Infra, the company responsible for the implementation of the Rail Baltica project in Lithuania, has signed contracts with the winner of two tenders. One is for planning the infrastructure of the Panevėžys railway node, and the other is for preparing the documents necessary for the design of regional stations and engineering systems in the Rail Baltica section from Kaunas to the Lithuanian-Latvian border. Both tenders, announced last December, were awarded to the joint venture partners Kelprojektas and Kelvista.

The involvement of the government, the common interest of the public and private sectors, the contribution of the scientific community and the added value to society — the importance of such a common approach of interested parties was emphasised by scientists, entrepreneurs and start-ups from the United Kingdom (UK), who participated in an international event organised by the Ministry of Transport and Communications, where the ‘Sandbox’ initiative created by the Ministry was presented. The UK entrepreneurs and scientists were interested in the development of the 5G technology ecosystem in Lithuania and discussed cooperation with potential participants in the ‘Sandbox’ programme.
