This week, in Lithuania visiting European Union agriculture ministers, European Commission and Parliament members and representatives of non-governmental organizations will discuss the prospects of family farms in the context of globalization. Recently, much attention has been paid to the family farms looking for niches in a changing world.

Slovenia, Croatia and Austria are to get €14.6 million in EU aid to help repair damage caused by severe floods in 2012. The aid was approved by the Budgets Committee on Thursday, but still needs to be endorsed by Parliament as a whole.

On 3–7 September, the European Parliament is hosting an interactive exhibition showcasing the Lithuanian economy and business. The event is run under the auspices of Radvilė Morkūnaitė-Mikulėnienė, Member of the EP, and the Permanent Representative of Lithuania to the European Union.
