External assets of Bank of Lithuania decrease, external liabilities increase

In August 2013, external assets of the Bank of Lithuania decreased by LTL 322.8 million (EUR 93.4 million), while external liabilities increased by LTL 157.0 million (EUR 45.4 million). At the end of the month these indicators were equal to LTL 20.3 billion (EUR 5.8 billion) and LTL 192.5 million (EUR 55.7 million) correspondingly, informs LETA/ELTA.

Deposits of residents with the Bank of Lithuania went down in August by LTL 568.5 million (EUR164.6 million) to LTL 6.3 billion (EUR 1.8 billion) at the end of the month.

Central government's deposits has been contracted by LTL 611.3 million (EUR 177 million), while deposits of other monetary financial institutions (MFIs) increased LTL 46.6 million (EUR 13.4 million). At the end of August, these deposits totalled LTL 3.1 billion (EUR 897 million) and LTL 3.2 billion (EUR 926 million) correspondingly.

Currency in circulation went up during August by LTL 69.2 million (EUR 20 million) to LTL 11.8 billion (EUR 3.4 billion) at the end of the month, and capital and reserves increased by LTL 17.6 million (EUR 5 million) to LTL 1.8 billion (EUR 521 million) at the end of August.
