Chancellor of the Government Algirdas Stončaitis participated in the opening of the international exhibition China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai (China). During the working visit to Tokyo, President Gitanas Nausėda met with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe of Japan. Political, economic, and cultural cooperation between Lithuania and Japan, as well as nuclear safety issues, were discussed at the meeting.

On October 17 Vice Minister of National Defence Vytautas Umbrasas met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic Vít Korseltto discuss security aspects, EU and NATO security and defence initiatives and the defence programme of Lithuania and the Czech Republic in the region.

President Gitanas Nausėda and First Lady Diana Nausėdienė will pay a visit to Japan on October 21-24 to attend the ascension ceremony of Emperor Naruhito and celebrations hosted on the occasion of the event.
