Statement by the Foreign Ministers of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and the U.S. Secretary of State on the 75th anniversary of the end of the Second World War:

The New Pact on Asylum and Migration that the Commission is set to present soon is an “opportunity to give fresh and much-needed impetus to legal and safe migration”.

The EU should stop channeling funds to Libya to manage migration and to train its coastguard, as the violation of human rights of migrants and asylum-seekers continues.

On 27 April, Lithuania sent essential medical supplies for combating the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) to Spain. The country provided humanitarian aid in accordance with the decision of Lithuania’s Government of 8 April and in response to Spain’s request for medical supplies to help fight the pandemic in the country.

On behalf of the people of Lithuania, President Gitanas Nausėda extended sincere congratulations to President Andrzej Duda of Poland on the occasion of the Polish national day − Constitution Day and wished all the people of Poland continued health, concord and success.

President Gitanas Nausėda held a conference call with President Salome Zourabichvili of Georgia as he continued conversations with leaders of the EU Eastern Partnership countries in view of the approaching summit on June 18.

President Gitanas Nausėda had a conference call with President Armen Sargsyan of Armenia. The conversation was held in preparation to the upcoming EU Eastern Partnership Summit on June 18. This week and last week the President had conversations with Presidents of Ukraine, Belarus, Azerbaijan and Moldova.

Continuing talks with the leaders of the EU Eastern Partnership countries, on 27 April President Gitanas Nausėda had a telephone conversation with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. The Presidents discussed the Eastern Partnership agenda and agreed that this EU policy needed a strategic approach and ambitious agenda.

President Gitanas Nausėda had a conference call with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Alijev. The conversation was held in preparation to the coming EU Eastern Partnership Summit on June 18. The meeting is expected to have an ambitious and motivating agenda.

President Gitanas Nausėda had a telephone conversation with President of Moldova Igor Dodon. The conversation was held in view of the approaching EU Eastern Partnership Summit on June 18 where guidelines for EU-Eastern Partnership relations will be reviewed.
