The counterparts have also talked about preparations for the meeting of the Heads of Government of the three Baltic States to be held on Monday, which will have a number of issues on its agenda, including co-operation in the fields of economics, energy, transport, as well as digitalisation of the economy, green economy and others.
The Prime Minister has pointed out that this Government will pay special attention to the dialogue and cooperation with Latvia, with which Lithuania shares not only the common border but also common interests.
‘The Programme of the Government contains provisions as regards closer co-operation between the Baltic States, and thus it is important that these provisions translate into deeds not only words’, said Ingrida Šimonytė.
On the strategic projects, it has been noted that Rail Baltic is expected to be completed by 2026. As regards energy, what is important is not only to end the synchronization on time but to make every effort to speed it up. This is the path to move forward.
The Prime Ministers have talked about Belarus pointing out the need to step up efforts to support the people of Belarus after the presidential elections in August, the results of which were declared illegal. One of the main priorities of the Lithuanian Presidency of the Baltic Council of Ministers in 2021 will be to strengthen the Baltic support and launch support projects to this end.
