EducationOn 6 October, 2014, an agreement was signed in Prague, Czech Republic, over the implementation of the European Union scientific research project ELI-Beamlines. Low energy buildings with generators, using renewable energy resources, is a global challenge for the scientists worldwide, because there is no unique system so far, capable to asses energy efficiency during the designing stage. Currently, the researchers of Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU) are developing and testing the overall energy, operating and using systems' efficiency evaluation models. The education system oriented at academic achievements prevents Lithuania from becoming an innovative country. It does not promote innovative thinking, entrepreneurship and is impeding such traits says Senior Economist at Swedbank Laura Galdikiene. Japanese games industry research and analysis agency Media Create has identified Lithuania as the hottest spot for game producers in Central and Eastern Europe in a new report. 'Theatre Polonia' from Warsaw will stage a play 'Danuta W.' in the Lithuanian National Drama Theatre on 21st October. The play is about the wife of Lech Wałęsa - Danuta, who is also going to arrive to Vilnius. The delegation of CERN (the European Organization for Nuclear Research) led by professor Rolf Dieter Heuer, Director General of CERN, visited Lithuania and Vilnius University on 26 September 2014. CERN is a European research organization the purpose of which is to operate the world's largest particle physics laboratory. Yesterday the test of knowledge of the Constitution took place for the eighth time. It was organized by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Lithuania. All the citizens of Lithuania could take part in the test. The test was also available online. The EU boasts 24 official languages and it has always sought to protect this linguistic diversity. Everyone has the right to communicate with the EU institutions in their own language and receive an answer in the same language. Since 2001 the European Day of Languages has been celebrated every year to promote language learning and highlight the importance of multilingualism. Almost half of all the students who obtained the highest state exam results and who opted for management and economic studies, will study in the ISM University of Management and Economics. This is the best result among the managerial and economic studies offered by Lithuanian high schools. Such results were notified by ISM University of Management and Economics. Three hundred ninety-two new students will begin their studies at European Humanities University (EHU) in the fall 2014. Their numbers include 329 undergraduate and 63 graduate students. |
