MEPs called on the EU to continue to back the Iran nuclear deal, which has helped to reduce the nuclear threat posed by the country.

The Civil Liberties Committee calls on the Commission to suspend the EU-US Privacy Shield since it fails to provide enough data protection for EU citizens.

“The Alliance has achieved quite a lot on stronger deterrence and defence since the Warsaw Summit but we have to make sure the launched security initiatives are continued and their implementation is accelerated,” Minister of National Defence Raimundas Karoblis said at the NATO Defence Ministers meeting in Brussels on June 7. He stressed that the speed of decision-making is one of the key conditions of efficient collective defence and therefore urged Ministers to apply every solutions that would enable NATO forces to respond immediately in case of a crisis or conflict.

On 5-7 June, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of Ghana Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey is visiting Lithuania. She met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius and discussed prospects for the development of bilateral relations, cooperation in multilateral formats, global and regional issues.

On 6 June, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius met with the outgoing Ambassador of Canada Alain Hausser, who resides in Riga. Lithuania‘s Foreign Minister thanked the Ambassador for the role of Canada in strengthening security of the Baltic states and for his personal contribution to the development of bilateral ties.

On 1 June, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius attended a conference at Stanford University to celebrate the 100th anniversary of independence of the Baltic states. The conference was organized by the Association for the Advancement of Baltic Studies (AABS).

On 31 May, the Honorary Consulate of Guatemala was opened in Vilnius. It is headed by the entrepreneur Asta Naumenko Meschino.

The Seimas ratified the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Community and their Member States, of the one part, and the Republic of Armenia, of the other part, adopted in Brussels on 24 November 2017.
