President Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Lina Viltrakienė, Lithuania’s Ambassador to the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development.

On May 2 a hand over-take over ceremony will take place at the Lithuanian Air Force Base in Šiauliai for the NATO Baltic Air Policing Mission units – the leaving Polish air Force Detachment will transfer the lead of the mission to the incoming Hungarian Air Force Detachment. Augmentation to the mission conducted from Lithuania will be sent in by the Spanish Air Force.

The European Commission and the European Investment Bank (EIB) launched yesterday a €1 billion loans package targeting specifically young farmers. In 2017, 27% of the loan applications submitted to banks by EU young farmers were rejected, compared to only 9% for other farms.

The Seimas hosted the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the Treaty between Lithuania and Poland on Friendly Relations and Good Neighbourly Cooperation. The Treaty was signed by Algirdas Mykolas Brazauskas, President of the Republic of Lithuania, and Lech Wałęsa, President of the Republic of Poland, in the buildings of the Seimas on 26 April 1994.
