Alternatives for the development of regional stations on the section of Rail Baltica from Kaunas to the Lithuanian-Latvian border – the land for the planned stations – are already being presented to the public. Communities, related organisations and the public of the areas where regional stations are being planned are invited to actively participate and cooperate in the territorial planning process by submitting comments and proposals for public consideration of the project.

On 3-7 July, Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė and representatives of the laser business are visiting South Korea to meet potential investors. The Minister is accompanied by representatives of eight Lithuanian laser companies, as well as the representatives of the Centre for Physical Sciences and Technology and the Lithuanian Laser Association.

The Ministry of the Economy and Innovation is launching a €12 million call for funding to develop and improve the deployment and visual configuration of e-commerce transaction solutions.

Minister of Finance Gintarė Skaistė officially submitted to the European Commission (EC) the supplemented plan “New Generation Lithuania”. The updated plan foresees more than EUR 1.8 billion of additional investment, including an additional billion for loans to business, green, innovative, digital technologies and the production and export of high value-added products.

Minister of Finance Gintarė Skaistė has signed the order approving the Rules for Issue and Organization of Sale and Purchase of the Government Savings Notes (GSNs). This is the first step towards the possibility for the Lithuanian residents to invest in savings notes.

During a session at the Ukraine Recovery Conference, Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė, together with UK Foreign Secretary James Cleverly and Croatian Foreign Minister Gordan Grlić Radman, discussed the importance of this conference, which has been held not for first time now, efforts to rebuild Ukraine, and the goals set by the countries. Lithuania’s total military, humanitarian and financial assistance to Ukraine is estimated to have reached €1 billion, representing 1.42% of GDP for 2022.

The development of fifth-generation mobile connectivity (5G) was recognised as a project of national importance by the Government on Wednesday. The status of a project of national importance will enable sustainable development of the electronic communications infrastructure, i.e. it will allow faster and more efficient preparation of spatial planning documents and implementation of the planned solutions in communications infrastructure.

After the decision to set up a new Anti-Money Laundering Agency (AMLA) at the European Union (EU) level, Lithuania participates in the selection process and welcomes the settlement of this important financial sector institution in Vilnius. At the event “AMLA – We Are Waiting For You in Vilnius” Minister of Finance Gintarė Skaistė stressed that Lithuania’s biggest advantage was a large pool of competent professionals, a dynamic financial sector ecosystem and a high quality of life in Vilnius.

Exciting news from the European Union: the European Commission has allocated almost €1 billion (€928 million) for the implementation of the European gauge railway Rail Baltica, of which €394 million has been allocated to Lithuania. This is the largest funding Lithuania has ever received from the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).

New rules boosting rail passenger rights across the EU, including better support in case of delays and more assistance for people with a disability, came into effect in June 2023.
