Territorial planning procedures at the Kaunas railway hub are entering the next stage – coordination and approval. It is expected that the special plan of one of the most important infrastructural hubs required for the new international track will be approved by the Government in the third quarter of this year. Next on the agenda is the start of the land acquisition procedures.

The Lithuanian capital company Komfovent plans to invest EUR 25 million and create 302 new jobs in Kaišiadorys District. The Ministry of the Economy and Innovation has signed an agreement with the company granting the project the status of a major investment project.

Lithuanian Airports has announced an international tender for the selection of the operator of all the parking lots managed by Lithuanian Airports. The new operator will manage more than 3,300 parking spaces (existing and planned in the future) at three airports in Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga. It is being planned that the winner of the tender will take over the management of the parking spaces in the second half of this year.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation and INVEGA are launching a new venture capital financial instrument “Development Funds III”, announcing the selection of venture capital fund managers.

The last Sunday in March will mark the start of the new summer aviation season. This year, airlines will offer more than 80 direct regular routes to passengers at Lithuanian airports. The planned routes include destinations that are attractive to business travelers as well as European cities that are popular with holidaymakers for leisure and sightseeing trips.

in Vilnius, Minister of Finance Gintarė Skaistė had a meeting with the new Executive Director of the European Stability Mechanism (ESM) Pierre Gramegna. During the meeting, the ESM reform was discussed, as well as the role of the ESM financial instruments in the context of increased risks and uncertainty at the level of the euro area.

The Ministry of Finance presented a package of tax proposals centred on convenience, economic growth and fairness. The presented package of tax proposals, according to Minister of Finance Gintarė Skaistė, aims to create incentives for more convenient tax payment, as well as to encourage businesses to grow and invest in implementing the goals of the green agenda and the development of innovation, while creating a fairer and more balanced tax system.

Otilija Snieškaitė will take up the post of Commercial Attaché of the Republic of Lithuania from today, 20 March.
