The Government has approved a proposal by the Ministry of the Economy and Innovation to amend the National List of Controlled Dual-Use Goods to further restrict the export, including re-export, of goods from Lithuania to third countries, thus reducing the risk of these goods being used in hostilities in Ukraine.

Following the formal proposal by the Advocate General of the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) on Tuesday to abolish the provision in the European Union (EU) Mobility Package that requires the return of trucks to their country of registration every eight weeks, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Marius Skuodis, welcomes this way of solving this international case. It is hoped that the CJEU will take note of this suggestion and that the mandatory return of the trucks will be lifted immediately.

Winter flight season will start along at the end of October and bring changes to the Lithuanian Airports: destinations popular during cold season will be included in the schedule again as well as completely new ones, and some flights will be temporarily excluded until spring-summer season. According to data of the Lithuanian Airports, this winter it will be possible to reach 36 European cities by regular flights from Vilnius Airport, 16 cities from Kaunas Airport and 4 cities from Palanga Airport.

Following the Government's approval today, preparations will begin for the reconstruction of three sections of the Via Baltica international motorway from Kaunas to the border with Latvia, with plans to be deliberated for the development of the engineering infrastructure of transport communications. The total length of these roads is almost 160 kilometres.

Minister of the Economy and Innovation Aušrinė Armonaitė has awarded 260 scholarships to students enrolled in state-funded STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) study programmes. This year, scholarships were awarded to students from nine regional higher education institutions.

At a meeting on Monday, the Cabinet of Ministers approved adding new investments to the plan "New Generation Lithuania", which received a positive assessment by the European Commission (EC), and its submission to the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) for approval. After the endorsement by the EC, the modification of the Plan is planned to be finally approved by the Council by the end of this year.
