Sweden's furniture giant Ikea has purchased about 38,000 hectares of forest in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia for about 65 mln euros.

With Poland experiencing technical problems, the Gas Interconnector Poland-Lithuania (GIPL) gas pipeline project will be completed at least a year later than planned, in 2020 to 2021, but Energy Minister Rokas Masiulis says that this will not cause any problems to Lithuania.

New alternative fuel vehicle (AFV) registrations in Lithuania went up in the first half of 2016, but their number remains among the lowest in the European Union, figures from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) showed on Wednesday.

During the first half of 2016 leisure carrier Small Planet Airlines grew its revenues by 9,9% to 72,3 million EUR when compared to the same period in 2015. The main reasons behind revenue growth was increased activity in Lithuania, Poland, and the United Kingdom, launch of flights under the German AOC, and return to the French market. Over the period of six months Small Planet Airlines added six new aircraft and carried 660 thousand passengers: 26% more than during the same period last year.

Consolidated net profits of Baltic Mill, the Baltic milling group, stood at 852,000 euros in the past financial year, up by a factor of 3.6, from 238,000 euros, in the year before, Baltic Mill informs in a statement to the Nasdaq Vilnius stock exchange.
