Lithuania's number of new cars with alternative fuel among EU's lowest

New alternative fuel vehicle (AFV) registrations in Lithuania went up in the first half of 2016, but their number remains among the lowest in the European Union, figures from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) showed on Wednesday. A total of 254 new electric vehicles, hybrid cars and natural gas powered cars were registered in Lithuania during the quarter, up 29.6% from 196 a year earlier. Lower numbers were only recorded by Latvia, down 21.3% to 155 units, and Bulgaria, at 177 units. The number in Estonia soared by 78.3% to 353 in the first half of 2016 year-on-year. Across the EU, new AFV registrations rose by 3.5% to 302,800 units.
