On the basis of the Memorandum of Understanding, the parties will exchange experiences on how the Foreign Ministries' activities can contribute to the promotion of cooperation in the fields of trade, science, and innovation, as well as to investment attraction. The parties plan to share expertise and implement joint projects with the aim of improving business environment, promoting goods and services in third countries by means of economic diplomacy.
Linkevičius and Gherman agreed to further foster and strengthen bilateral relations between Lithuania and Moldova, especially seeking to implement provisions of the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. According to Linkevičius, Moldova's consistent work has given excellent results. Lithuania, in turn, will continue to support the implementation of European reforms in this country. It is essential that Moldova tackles key reforms to fight against corruption, to reform its justice sector and the banking sector.
The Ministers also exchanged views with regard to the progress made in negotiations on the resolution of the Transnistrian conflict.
Gherman and Linkevičius also presided over the sixth session of the Lithuania-Moldova Commission for European Integration, which focused on cooperation in the fight against corruption and money laundering, and prospects for further cooperation. Lithuanian representatives shared their experiences in reforming Lithuania's banking sector and presented Lithuania's development cooperation projects in Moldova. After the meeting, the Ministers inked the protocol.
