According to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius, the decision taken by Croatia to open an Embassy reflects the relationship between Lithuania and Croatia, which has been gaining momentum at the bilateral, multilateral and regional levels, as well as the intensifying ties between institutions and citizens of the two countries.
"I believe that the opening of the Croatian Embassy in Vilnius will strengthen the existing sincere friendship between our countries and will contribute to the development of a successful cooperation between Lithuania and Croatia in the fields of politics, business, science, culture, sports and other areas," said Lithuania's Foreign Minister.
In 2013, Lithuania and Croatia exchanged their diplomatic representations. The Office of the Croatian Embassy to Sweden was opened in Vilnius in June 2013, while the Office of the Lithuanian Embassy to Austria was opened in Zagreb in May 2013.
